Civic amenity site

A civic amenity site (CA site) or household waste recycling centre (HWRC) is a facility where the public can dispose of household waste and also often containing recycling points. Civic amenity sites are run by the local authority in a given area. Collection points for recyclable waste such as green waste, metals, glass and other waste types (including WVO[1][2]) are available. Items that cannot be collected by local waste collection schemes such as bulky waste are also provided.

In the United Kingdom, civic amenity sites are informally called "tips" or "dumps."

It holds nearly 4,400 aircraft, which makes it the largest aircraft storage and preservation facility in the world.

AMARG is part of my latest story for National Geographic magazine, on "The End of Trash"—or circular economy solutions. Could it be an example for other large-scale industries to be less wasteful?

By designing waste out of the production system, circularity aims to keep resources and materials in use while regenerating natural systems. It's promising, but the truth is there isn't one single solution. Yet each one of us can make a big difference by being more conscious of our choices and staying informed.

先說，我不太挑衣服，也不太知道品質材質的差別，所以挑選的原因完全和衣服本身沒有關係，我要講的只有一件事情，這間公司品牌願意封館「讓家扶兒免費挑衣服」!

這件事情有多難得，請讓我用自己淺薄幾年的社工經驗跟大家分享。

今天，重點不只是在於他捐了多少錢，而是他在捐錢的方式。捐錢做公益的人，我們都很感謝，這就已經很難得了，但是用尊重人的方式捐錢。

這在台灣真的真的太少見了，今天大家可能只看到封館送衣服做公益的表象，但這件事情，對真的在經濟底層的家庭，尤其是兒童而言有多難得，讓我稍微分析一下。

我想有些人可能和經濟弱勢的家庭有點距離，很多孩子的衣服等物資，在窮困的家裡是無法負擔的，最常見的就是接受親友、善意民眾、鄰居的捐贈，或是等哥哥姊姊穿不下了，留給弟弟妹妹。這會出現一個問題是，這些孩子很難甚至沒有機會表達、選擇自己想要的、自己的喜好、興趣，這來自一個很隱微的歧視：「窮人有就不錯了，還挑？」

所以這些兒童很會壓抑自己，他們可能不知道自己到底想要什麼、喜歡什麼、討厭什麼，或是即便知道了，也不能說。因為他們大部分的生活，都被所謂的貧窮決定了。

在這個基本背景上，我們再來看NET做的這個封館挑衣服的活動。

封館本身，只讓家扶的夥伴和家庭進入，在當天能夠自在的選擇、試穿衣服，這樣的經驗本身就非常難得，首先是他們不需要擔心被外人認出、辨識發現他們是受助者，可以自在的挑衣服；其次是能夠在一家乾乾淨淨、有櫥窗的店面挑新衣服這件事本身，對真的窮苦的孩子來說，可能是他到現在的人生都不會有、也不敢有的夢。應該不難想像，一個孩子因為貧窮，在面對新的物品時，多害怕自己把別人店家的東西弄髒、弄壞，真的弄髒到時候也沒錢賠，所以最好的辦法就是離著遠遠的。

再來是讓孩子、家庭自己挑新衣服，這是真正尊重一個人的表現，這也是我覺得最難得的地方捐錢捐物資，那叫捐贈，你應該要什麼、想要什麼、需要什麼，我都幫你決定好了。但是NET是給每個家庭一個金額的提貨券，讓他們自己去選擇，他們能夠真正的去思考自己喜歡什麼、討厭什麼、想要的是什麼，也在購買的經驗裡面去學習，我在這幾張提貨券的金額裡面，可以買多少東西、我要怎麼去運用安排、我要為自己的選擇負責這個才是這個活動裡面，一個不常被看見的精神。不把他們當作窮人，而是一個獨立、自主、負責的人看待。

對出生在這樣家庭的小孩，在365天裡面終於有這麼1天，自己的聲音和尊嚴是能夠被聽見和展現的，要創造這樣的一天，有多不容易。

我不知道衣服品質的差異，但光是這樣的社會精神，我想我會一直支持NET，做善事不必捐大錢，如果我們能在生活選擇中，支持、鼓勵那些我們相信的信念，我想社會就會越來越好。

The world’s largest indoor vertical farm, operated by Aerofarms at its headquarters in New Jersey, aims to raise vegetables sustainably year-round in the heart of an urban area. Leafy greens are grown on a substrate made from recycled plastic bottles.
