If Pan had been able to stay healthy, he might have impacted the Phillies’
big league bullpen by now. He pitched his way to High-A in his debut season
of 2023 after signing that January for $350,000. The Taiwanese right-hander
then missed nearly three months to kick off the 2024 season with a broken
pinky, then missed out on a planned trip to the Arizona Fall League to make
up for lost time because of his elbow, which needed Tommy John surgery that
November, so he missed all of the 2025 season.

The Phillies are excited to see how quickly Pan’s high-end stuff comes back
now that he’s healthy again. His fastball plays well with a good angle
coming from a little higher slot, sitting in the 96-97 mph range and touching
99 with some ride before the surgery. He’s mostly a two-pitch guy, with a
plus splitter that kills spin and gets a ton of swing-and-miss. He started
throwing his slider a little harder, around 84-85 mph, and it was effective,
but it’s average at best as a distant third offering.

It doesn’t need to be pinpoint for him to land high-leverage innings in a
big league bullpen in the future, something that could happen sooner rather
than later if he can shake the TJ rust off.
