 in an even more fragile state after the London borough of Wandsworth voted agai
nst the proposal.

全英草地網球俱樂部提出的2.5億的擴建案

日前遭到當地市議會的否決


Confirming a recommendation from its planning officers, the borough’s council u
nanimously voted down the bid to build a new 8,000-seat stadium and 39 additiona
l courts, finding that it would “cause substantial harm to the openness of metr
opolitan open land.”

溫網提出想加蓋39座球場

其中有一座容量將有8000人


The 7-0 vote followed nearly three hours of debate and prompted cheers from the
public gallery.

遭7:0全票反對否決


AELTC CEO Sally Bolton called the decision “disappointing,” reiterating the or
ganization’s view that the effort would be “one of the greatest sporting trans
formations for London since [the Olympics in] 2012.”

全英草地網球俱樂部CEO Sally Bolton對此表示失望

他認為這個擴建計畫是自 2012 年奧運會以來

倫敦最偉大的體育變革之一


Wimbledon is the only one of tennis’s four Grand Slam tournaments that doesn’t
 hold its qualifying events on site — they’re held several miles away at a sma
ller, 2,000-capacity venue.

目前溫網也是四大滿貫賽中

唯一資格賽不在原本場地舉辦資格賽的

而是在幾英里外的一個可容納2,000人的較小場地舉行


The matter now heads to the office of London mayor Sadiq Khan, with a decision e
xpected by early December on whether to kill the proposal or review it further.

目前將由倫敦市長辦公室在12月做出決定

看是要終止這個計畫，還是繼續重新審視

→ yevvi: 換，還是另外增建39個草地球場。感覺後者並不合理原本溫網Church Road旁園區是佔地約48acres(英畝)擁有22個正式球場，如今新擴展計畫是動用到湖旁的高爾夫用地，預計要從原本48英畝擴展到73英畝，包含一個新的可移動式屋頂容納8000人的新第二球場
不說別的，試想要在新多出來25英畝地，蓋39座新球場這難度有多大? 目前其他四大賽使用面積，澳網50英畝美網46.5英畝，法網剛完成擴建，從原本21.5英畝擴展到34英畝
更正，原本48英畝改成42英畝
多出來31英畝
