from Mavericks

Take us through the moment you heard the news of the Luka Doncic trade, what
your reaction was and then everything that led to you going out to Los Angeles
 to be there for Luka’s debut with the Lakers.


當你聽到 Luka Doncic 被交易的消息時，當下的反應是什麼？
然後又發生了什麼事情，讓你決定前往洛杉磯觀看他的湖人首戰？


Dirk Nowitzki: I don’t really want to get into any details of the whole deal.
 But when I saw the news I was actually all across on the other side of the
world, I was on vacation with the family in the Maldives, not sure if you guys
 are familiar, but it’s in the middle of the Indian Ocean, so it’s far, far
away and it was the middle of the day because we’re 12 hours ahead. And my
phone starts blowing up, we were actually about to go to lunch, we were
leaving that day to travel back and my phone just starts blowing up left and
right. I looked on social media and I think I was as shocked and surprised as
everybody was. I spent the next hour just following everything on social media
, just making sure this is real, this is happening. I was just in awe and as
surprised as everybody was. I was trying to wrap my head around what was
really happening. Yeah, just really couldn’t believe it that this was what
happened.


Dirk Nowitzki:

我不太想深入討論這筆交易的細節。
但當我看到這個消息時，我其實正在地球的另一端——我和家人正在馬爾地夫度假。

不知道你們是否熟悉這個地方，它位於印度洋的正中央，非常遙遠。

我們那裡比美國快 12 個小時，所以當時是白天，
我們正準備去吃午餐，因為當天我們要離開返回家中。
就在這時，我的手機開始瘋狂震動，訊息一個接一個擠進來。

我打開社群媒體，發現自己跟大家一樣震驚和意外。

接下來的一個小時，我一直在網路上追這件事，確認這是不是真的，這真的發生了嗎？
我當時完全無法相信這件事竟然會發生，一直試圖弄清楚到底發生了什麼。



Fast forward, coming home. Obviously, Luka, we texted a bit, of course. I felt
 a little disappointed and sad for him. He obviously didn’t see this coming,
so he invited me to come out to his first game in LA, and I felt like I had to
 support him. I felt like, I played with him in my last season, we’ve gotten
close, I’ve tried to mentor him, I’ve tried to help him as much as I can the
 last few years and he’s a good kid. I felt like I had to go out there and
support him in this new chapter, because I think and it was reported he was
obviously pretty down and disappointed in how it went down. So I wanted to be
there for him, I wanted to be there for his family and show support. But you
guys saw my face, it was weird. It was surreal to see him play for the Lakers.
 I’ll never be a Laker fan, but I’ll always be a Luka fan. It was good to
see him and good to be there for him.


回到家後，當然，我和 Luka 傳了幾條訊息。
我為他感到有些失望和難過，因為他顯然完全沒有預料到這件事會發生。

他邀請我去洛杉磯看他的第一場比賽，我覺得自己必須去支持他。
我曾和他一起打過球，他是我職業生涯的最後一位隊友之一。
我一直試著指導他、幫助他，這幾年來我們關係很好，他是一個好孩子。

我覺得自己必須去支持他，因為根據報導，他對這筆交易感到非常沮喪和失望。
我想在他開啟新篇章時陪在他身邊，也想支持他的家人。

We wanted Luka to do well because we feel like he’s ours, just like you were,
 and it was the weirdest way to watch a basketball game.


我們都希望 Luka 繼續有好表現，因為他就像是我們的一部分，就像你一樣。
但這場比賽真的讓人有種很奇怪的感覺。


Nowitzki: Just being there, being in the stadium watching him in the purple
and gold was just a surreal moment and surreal for me, but I was happy I did
it and I’m happy I went to support him and I think now, after a few weeks, I
think he’s looking forward to the opportunity there. He’s playing for one of
 the biggest clubs in the world, so I think he’s seeing the opportunity now
and obviously, he needs to wrap his head around that, that he’ll be with the
Lakers now and he needs to move forward and do his thing out there. We all of
course wish him well.


在球場裡，看著他穿著紫金戰袍，那種感覺真的很不真實。
但我很高興自己去了，也很高興能表達對他的支持。

我覺得經過這幾週的適應後，他現在開始期待這個機會了。
他現在效力於世界上最知名的球隊之一，所以他應該要抓住這個機會，
適應新環境，繼續在湖人發光發熱。


我們當然都會祝他一切順利。



You’re familiar with Anthony Davis, talk about what is here now on the team
and how they’re constructed.


你對 Anthony Davis 很熟悉，能談談目前這支獨行俠隊的陣容和他們的競爭力嗎？


Nowitzki: I think if the Mavs are healthy, I think they have a heck of a team.
 I kind of feel bad about AD and [Max] Christie here in this deal. They’re
both great players, fun to watch and, of course, they get the news, they see
it and I just hope they feel welcome still and will still be able to
contribute to a good team, because like I said, if they’re healthy, they’re
pretty loaded at all positions. I love AD’s game, always have. He’s
obviously an All-NBA talent at both ends of the floor. Scoring-wise, we all
know he’s long, he can score multiple ways. But defensively, he’s long, he’
s active, he can block shots. I was really surprised with Max Christie’s game
. I wasn’t really that familiar, I hadn’t watched a lot of Lakers games this
 year. But great, versatile player. He can shoot the ball well and defense, he
’s long on the perimeter. You can never have enough long guys that can shoot
these days.


我認為如果獨行俠全員健康，他們仍然擁有一支相當有競爭力的球隊。

我對 AD 和 [Max] Christie 被捲入這筆交易感到有些遺憾。他們都是很棒的球員，

我一直很喜歡 AD 的打法，他在攻防兩端都是全明星等級的球員。

進攻端他身材高大，能用多種方式得分。
而防守端，他的臂展長，防守積極，能夠封阻對手的投籃。


至於 Christie，我對他的比賽風格其實不是很熟悉，
因為這季我沒有看太多湖人的比賽。但我發現他是一名非常全面的球員，
有投籃能力，防守端在外圍的覆蓋範圍也很廣。


在現今的 NBA，擁有更多的高射手總是一件好事。



It’s all about health, really, with that team now. Kyrie [Irving] has been
phenomenal. I’ve got to give my guy [Jason Kidd] a shoutout, I think he’s
been doing a phenomenal job with, really, the injuries. The injuries that they
’ve had this year, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s just devastating,
 one after the next going out, the lineups they have to roll out there and
sign guys to 10-days and play the same day and night. Kidd’s been having them
 together and believing in each other and playing hard for each other. Even
with everything that’s going on, to win four out of five going into the break
 and to lose against Sacramento, basically at the buzzer, it’s been a heck of
 a run. So, hopefully they can keep that up and get healthier one by one and
see what’s possible down the stretch here in the playoffs.


目前這支球隊的最大關鍵就是健康問題。


KI的表現一直很棒，我必須稱讚我的老朋友 Jason Kidd ，他真的幹的很出色。

考慮到本賽季獨行俠的傷病情況，
我從來沒見過這麼多球員接連受傷，簡直是災難性的一季。
但即便如此，Kidd 還是讓球隊保持團結，相信彼此，並且努力打出競爭力。

即使面對這麼多困難，他們還是在全明星前的五場比賽中贏了四場，
唯一輸掉的比賽也是在對國王的比賽最後時刻落敗。這真的是一段令人驚艷的表現。
