Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees agreed Friday to a $189 million, 10-year co
ntract after more than 13 months of negotiations, The Associated Press has learn
ed.

吉特和洋基在簽下一張10Y/189M延長合約


Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, who backed away from a long-term commitment t
o Jeter last winter, then gave his permission to finalize the contract, the offi
cial said.

然而其實在前一年雙方就要簽約

但被洋基老老闆George Steinbrenner擋下


Last year, Levine and Close agreed to a $118.5 million, seven-year contract, but
 Steinbrenner wouldn't close the deal because he didn't want to set any salary r
ecords, preferring to wait for a $143 million, eight-year contract between Juan
Gonzalez and Detroit to be finalized.

去年雙方有談妥一張7Y/118.5M合約

但老老闆不想要創任何合約紀錄

所以把合約壓著

想等當時Juan Gonzalez和老虎那張8Y/143M簽下去後，雙方再簽


But Gonzalez's deal stalled and then fell apart. Jeter signed a $10 million, one
-year contract.

只不過最後Gonzalez那張沒有簽成

所以吉特那張也沒簽了，改簽一年10M


He went on to become MVP of the All-Star game and the World Series as the Yankee
s won baseball's championship for the third straight season and the fourth time
in five years since Jeter joined the team.

然後當年洋基達成三連霸


Jeter's prices then went up when Alex Rodriguez signed a record $252 million, 10
-year deal with Texas.

2000年季後阿肉隨即和條子

簽了一張252M破紀錄超級大約

所以吉特也就簽到了這張189M




蠻有趣的，財大氣粗的老老闆

會不想要簽破紀錄大約喔XD
