紐約郵報的報導，提到洋基在三年前自由人進入自由球員市場時對他有興趣，但雙方在初步
談判後幾乎就沒有進一步的聯絡


“He didn’t want to come here,” a Yankees official said. “He wanted to stay i
n Atlanta, and if he couldn’t stay in Atlanta, he wanted to go to LA.”

某洋基高層說自由人不想來紐約「他想留在亞特蘭大，不然就是去洛杉磯。」

Going into that winter, the Yankees were thought interested in doing a possible
$180M deal for Freeman, who was born in Southern California but loved his Braves
 days.

If true, that could have worked — if he’d craved to come.

如果這是真的，那應該是有機會簽到他。前提是他願意來紐約

Another person familiar with the situation agreed that the Braves and Dodgers we
re at the very least the top two choices for one of the top five hitters in MLB,
 in that order.

另外一位知情人士同意勇士跟道奇就是Freeman的首選


Freeman, approached by The Post before Game 4, declined to discuss his geographi
cal preferences, not surprising since he was readying himself for the potential
Series clincher.

紐約郵報在G4開打前採訪了自由人，他拒絕討論他的地區偏好

“I had a conversation with [GM Brian Cashman]. They never made an offer,” Free
man told The Post.

自由人告訴郵報他當時有跟現金人對話過，不過洋基沒有開出報價

Cashman recalled a Zoom meeting he and manager Aaron Boone had with Freeman but
only that they weren’t able to match up.

現金人則回憶說他跟布恩有跟自由人開線上會議，但對合約條件無法達成一致


When talks with the Braves soured, Freeman eventually signed a Dodger-deferred d
eal for $162M over six years that’s worth $140M to $145M.

在跟勇士隊談崩以後，自由人與道奇簽了6年162M帶延期付款的合約，現值大約140-145M


As it turned out, the Braves’ five-year, $140M bid was probably better financia

lly, but once they gave up hope of getting it done, they traded for Matt Olson,
signing him to a $168M, eight-year deal.

勇士隊開的5年140M可能比較多錢，不過在他們覺得簽不下自由人後馬上就交易了Matt Olso
n，並且跟他簽下8年168M合約

Freeman then moved on, and he’s said to be thrilled as a Dodger — understandab
ly so.
