A week ago I promised to talk to you guys about why I started picking up
Irelia again, but sadly I had to delay that post since superweek was coming
up and I didn't want my post to have any influence on our results. Now that
superweek is over let's talk about Irelia.

I honestly don't think she's one of the strongest top laners atm, but right
now she got some advantages that other top lane champions doesn't. Her
strongest point right now is that no one remembers how to play against her
and that honestly gave me a huge advantage during the superweek. In our game
against Copenhagen Wolves there was a point that Youngbuck started to become
stronger than me, but no one have played Irelia in a long time so he didn't
know the match up and couldn't take advantage of that. That allowed me to put
a lot of pressure on him.

Irelia's kit also fits me perfect and I enjoy playing her which makes my
performance better. Her playstyle is closets to the ideal form of how I want
to play league of legends and that makes me perform very well with her.

Now let's talk a little about why I suddenly picked her up. Perserverance in
the defensive tree was the most broken mastery point and top laners had to go
full defense due to that, but after Riot nerfed it the offense tree became a
viable option. That made Irelia viable again because she's really good when
other champions doesn't have much sustain. As we all know she goes out of
mana very easily and if the opponent can sustain forever she will get
destroyed.

For all the other Irelia lovers out there that are interested in my runes and
masteries. I go 21 offense 9 defense and 0 utility in masteries since Irelia
needs the damage. Going full offense weakenes her early game quite a bit, but
if you manage to get past early game it's insanely strong. My runes change
slightly depending on the matchup, but going for AD reds, Armor yellow, Magic
resistance blue and health regeneration quints will always work.
